Gusts up to 90 kph caused many incidents yesterday, though none too serious. Firefighters had more than a dozen call-outs between 5 am and 4.30 pm. The branch of a tree fell and damaged a car at the Don Pepe apartments in Es Codolar. There were also several fallen trees blocking roads and entrances in various parts of the island. Firefighters had to lose the junction at the confluence of calles Carles III and Gaspar Puig in order to prune the branches of a tree and lighten their weight as there was danger of the tree falling. In the calle Bartholomé Roselló had to remove a shutter that had blown loose and threatening to fall. There were also incidents with telephone and electricity poles, some cables and firefighters, or the corresponding company’s technicians, were called out to solve the problem. According to the 112 emergency service in Eivissa, there were 17 incidents attended by 1.30 pm.
At sea, Baleària cancelled the journeys of Nixe to Ibiza-Formentera at 7 am, 11 am, 5.30 pm and 9.30 pm and the return journeys at 9 am, 1 pm, 6.30 pm and 10.45 pm. The Denia-Ibiza ferries due to leave at 5.30 pm and 10.30 pm, were replaced by a single trip at 8 pm, which caused a delay in the ship going from Ibiza to Palma. Instead of leaving at 9.30 pm, it finally left at 00.30 am.
