The Consell de Formentera opened an illegal property record every five days in 2014

The Consell de Formentera set in motion 77 official complaints against unlicensed works, or those without proper permits, last year. This represents a new file every 4.7 days.

Of these cases, 14 resulted in completed demolition orders while 19 have completed the legalisation of the building, either because the builder has obtained the appropriate license, or because the building has been returned to its original state before the work began. The remaining records are pending.

During 2014 a further 28 disciplinary proceedings, of which 9 have ended with fines totaling €280,000, were initiated. The 77 illegal property records of 2014 represent an increase of almost 7% when compared to 72 the previous year. Of these, 29 ended with a demolition order.
