The crematorium of Santa Eulalia will be operational from October

A crematorium will finally be a reality on Ibiza. Santa Eulalia will be the first municipality to provide this service, which will solve the problem and the cost of moving the deceased to Mallorca or the Peninsula for cremation.

The Ayuntamiento of Santa Eulalia has today approved the license for the VFV Group to begin work on the crematorium building for the municipality. The company now has one month to begin the work, which should be completed within a maximum period of six months.

The overall rate is €1.200 per cremation, a figure that is reduced to €700 for those who are residents of Santa Eulalia. The company will pay a quarterly fee to the City of €12.000 and 2,500 hours of work in exchange for the grant.

To complete the building of the Santa Eulalia crematorium, the company plans to invest €587.000, as the plans include demolishig the current installation and building a new one in the same place. The draft presented by the company “is conceived as a white cube in the middle of nature, respecting the architecture of the island and the natural environment of the plot.”
