If you’re interested in seeing some unique independent films locally on the island, then don’t let this year’s Ibiza Cine Fest pass you by. It’s running from 26th – 29th January this 2017 – there will be a wide array of movies to choose from to suit your fancy.
This is the second year that the film festival will have been running on the island and is set to feature films from across 5 different categories – the short films include: animation, fiction, experimental and short documentaries, while the official showcase will feature length documentary films.
Supporting Young Talent in the Film Industry:
Following the success of last years film festival and championing young and independent talent, this years Ibiza Cine Fest will also be running a competition. Giving finalists an opportunity to broadcast, publish and have their work’s recognised on a wider scale, whilst winners can expect that their films get top billing during the festival, a 500€ cash prize and trip to the island.
A collaboration between the organisers, UTOPIKFILMS and the local government has given credence to the competition and the festival as a whole – with a huge 600 short films entering – and a chosen 42 entries (both Spanish and International).
The majority of Ibiza Cine Fest is taking place in two different venues…
The festival will kick off in Districte Hiperbole, Ibiza Town on Thursday (26th) Night with a feature entitled ‘La Isla’, shot completely from here in Ibiza. Talks and conferences with key people in the film industry will also take place in this venue.
Auditori Can Ventosa, in Ibiza Town’s main library building will be where the main events take place and where the winning films will be shown.
