5 Charming Chiringuitos in ibiza

A laid-back beach bar (or chiringuito as they’re called in Spain) can turn a good beach into a great one! More relaxed than a beach club and generally rough-and-rustic in style, once you find one you like, you’ll want to keep going back.

Ibiza has no shortage of beaches, with plenty of them featuring trendy beach bars and restaurant, but if you prefer something more authentic and quiet, here are some of our favourites charming chiringuitos….

Utopía  San Miguel

The name gives you a little clue of what you will find! Known mainly by locals, Chiringuito Utopía is a true hidden gem nestled in unspoiled nature – it sits in an idyllic bay overlooking crystal clear waters. The food is any fish-lover dream, cooked directly in front of you on a grill – famous for its sardines as well as sea bream, prawns and delicious octopus salads. Cala Escondida near Cala Conta

Chringuito Cala Escondida is a fairly new beach bar, with a very strong sustainable vision behind – they use solar panels, only biodegradable products (no plastic & glasses) and composting toilets. The Chiringuito sits in the smaller side bay next to Cala Conta known as Racó d’en Xic – Previously a less known corner is now stealing some of the sparkle to the main beach and its iconic Sunset Ashram. The place unfolds its magic as soon as the sun starts to set and dresses the bay in its reddish colours. People gather here to escape from the busy Cala Conta and celebrate the sunset in a more intimate way. As this venue is open only for few months a year, make sure to check their Facebook page.

Chiringuito of Cala Codolar

A somewhat larger beach is Cala Codolar beach on the other side of Cala Comte. It’s a very tranquil beach with beautiful crystal clear water, ideal for snorkelling. The family-run beach kiosque has a long standing tradition with clients returning to their charming hospitality year after year. Hamburgers along with mojitos made to perfection are their speciality. A place for those who know how to enjoy the real pleasures in life.
