Beautiful surrounds make a good meal even better and Ibiza is blessed with great vistas that are sure to whet your appetite. We toured the island from north to south, east to west, to bring you this list of six superb restaurants with mouth-watering food and views.
Playa Es Cavallet, 07817 Sant Jordi, 971 39 65 72
Situated on the headland at the north end of Es Cavallet, La Escollera’s perch is the definition of prime real estate. From is expansive terrace the white sand of Es Cav sweeps away to your right, the ink-blue sea breaks at your feet and to the left rises the ancient stone walls of Dalt Vila, the fortified heart of old Ibiza Town.
Carrer Posta de Sol, 21, 07829 Cala Tarida,971 80 61 80
This beach club on the south-west coast has two restaurants on its huge roof terrace. But if all they served was crisps and warm bottled water it would be worth a pop up on a sunny afternoon and savour the picture-postcard of sea and sky. It faces a popular yacht anchorage as well, which adds rich-people-watching to the enjoyment.
S’illa des Bosc
Carretera de Cala Conta, s/n, 07830 Sant Josep, 971 80 61 61
Set back from the bustle of the beach, S’illa des Bosc offers a luxurious vantage point on the best sunset views in Ibiza. Watching the sun droop towards the horizon like a golden flower, spreading molten light across the sea, is one an unforgettable experience. Bring a wrap and linger over coffee and wine till the stars get bright.
Camí de Cala d’Hort, s/n, 07830 Sant Josep, 626 49 45 37
This rustic fish shack perched high on the cliff above Cala d’Hort offers a one-of-a-kind view of Es Vedra. You drive down a twisting gravel road to reach the restaurant and there is literally nowhere else on the island that gives you a similar overlook of the famous “magic rock”. It also serves some of the island’s best seafood. It’s cash only, so don’t forget to stop at the bank first!
Trattoria del Mar
Port Deportivo Marina Botafoch, s/n, 07800 Eivissa, 971 19 39 34
For a taste of the glamorous side of Ibiza life, along with striking views of the harbour and Dalt Vila, pay a visit to Trattoria del Mar. From its open dining room you can smell the sea and keep an eye on the comings and goings of the sleek watercraft that prowl the Marina. At dusk it offers an unparalleled vista of the old town with the warm light of the cathedral shining like a beacon.
Ctra. Sant Carles, km. 12, 07850, 971 33 52 80
The beaches may get more attention, but Ibiza’s countryside is every bit as beautiful. For an enchanted evening among orange groves and olive trees, slip away and lose yourself in the tranquil north of the island at Can Curreau. Intimate and elegant, it combines the best of old-fashioned country charm with fine dining sophistication.
